Outfitting Your Aurora
The Aurora is Argo’s latest platform, offering improvements to ride, handling and interior space. Now that it’s been out for a couple of years, the company has had a chance to develop accessories for this amphibious ATV. Here’s how you can upgrade your XTV for better performance, increased storage space and better weather protection.
Weather and Rollover Protection
A ROPS doesn’t just protect your vehicle in a rollover. It also provides mounting points for weather protection accessories. The rollover protection system comes standard on SX-R models, and can be added to other Auroras. The ROPS has handles, making it easier to get in and out of your amphibious ATV.
The folding windshield is self-supporting, but it can’t be used with a front cargo rack. There’s also a fixed windshield that attaches to the ROPS. Both windshields can use an optional windshield wiper.
The convertible top adds a roof and side curtains. It’s mostly self-supporting, but it requires a windshield. It isn’t compatible with a ROPS. If your Argo has rollover protection, you can add a soft top enclosure, or a hard top with side curtains.
Tracks and Outboards
Tracks increase the size of the contact patch, decreasing ground pressure. This lets your XTV float over the softest ground. Auroras come standard with axle extensions, requiring no extra hardware to install tracks. Only rubber tracks are available for this model. These tracks work great on most surfaces, including mud, sand and snow. Cleats can be added for better traction on ice.
The outboard motor mount lets you use a long shaft motor rated below 10 HP for faster travel on water.
Front End Accessories
A brushguard deflects branches away from the front end, protecting the paint and the lights. The Warn VRX35-S winch is rated to pull up to 3,500 lbs. Some models include a brushguard and winch from the factory, but these can be added to any Aurora. An optional receiver hitch lets you attach the winch to the rear of your vehicle.
The snow plow has an 81 inch-wide blade. It’s designed to be mounted and unmounted in 5 minutes. The plow requires a winch, which is used to raise and lower the blade.
Cargo
Going on a long excursion? The gas can and spare tire holders bolt to the back of your Argo, freeing up space for more cargo. The spare tire holder is not compatible with the outboard motor mount. Front and rear racks give you places to tie down more gear. Each rack supports up to 50 lbs. The rear rack isn’t compatible with the gas can or spare tire holders.
The composite bed liner comes standard on Huntmaster models, and can be added to all other models. Likewise, the stretcher rack comes with the Responder, and it can be added to other Auroras. D-ring cargo tie downs can be added around the bed to secure bulky cargo.
