Argo Conquest 8×8 XTd
Diesel Power and Performance in Any Environment
Whether you need extra torque or you need to simplify logistics when working in remote areas, the Kohler KDW1003 used to power the XTd is a great alternative to the Kohler gas engines used in most of Argo’s models. It’s still built to the same standards needed for this vehicle to operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 104° degrees F (-40 to 40°C,) and it meets CARB emissions requirements, so it can be used in California and Quebec. The 7.1 gallon (27 liter) fuel tank can run this engine for up to 8 hours at a time.
While diesels are known for being slow, it’s more than enough to work with Argo’s standard gear set, letting it reach 17 mph (27 km/h.) A low gear is included for when you need to crawl up steep inclines when fully loaded. When amphibious, the tires act like paddles, pushing the vehicle along at a maximum speed of 3 mph (5 km/h.) If you need to go faster, a sub-10 hp outboard motor can be added by installing an optional mount.
The Admiral transmission sends power through a pair of chain drives. To steer, it gradually applies the brake on the driveline going to the inner wheels. The steering brakes are activated by a set of handlebars, giving it the steering control of a regular ATV. An automatic chain lubrication system is included to reduce maintenance.
Transport What You Need to the Most Remote Work Sites
The Conquest has a large cargo area behind the seats to take the tools and supplies you need when working in remote locations. Payload capacity for this model is 1,210 lbs. (549 kg) on land and 710 lbs. (322 kg) on water. Using the rear hitch receiver, it can tow up to 2,000 lbs. (907 kg.) This can be used with standard trailers, or with one of Argo’s amphibious trailers, which can follow the XTV across soft surfaces and water. The XTd comes with seating for two people with the option of adding a removable bench seat to carry two additional passengers on land.
Equipment and Accessories
From the factory, the XTd comes with a front-mounted Warn winch rated at 4,500 lbs. A brush guard and full-length skid plate protect the XTV from scrapes and bumps, while a bilge pump keeps the seating and cargo areas dry while on water. From there, you can configure the cab and cargo area to best fit your needs:
The universal mounting system adds rails over the cargo area, letting you mount whatever tools you need to use in the field. For long objects like axes and shovels, there’s a utility rack that mounts behind the seats.
The 38-gallon storage tote mounts to the top of the cargo area and has built-in wheels for transport once you’re on site.
Need to access the cargo area while on water or marshy areas? A catwalk can be added to walk over the sides of the vehicle.
Want to carry loose materials like soil and dirt? Argo makes a dump bed that mounts on top of the cargo area.
Working in harsh weather? A ROPS can be added, which allows you to mount a roof, windshield and canvas doors to protect the passengers. For extreme conditions, tracks can be mounted on the wheels. These come in a variety of designs for surfaces ranging from ice to mud.
Colors
The Conquest 8×8 XTd is available in dark green Tundra and a bright Construction Yellow for visibility.
