Argo Aurora 950 Bigfoot MX8: The Easiest Way to Get Through Mud
The tires on most Argo’s amphibious ATVs make these vehicles great on soft surfaces. With 6 or 8 wheels spreading out the weight of the vehicle, ground pressure is so low that it won’t sink like other vehicle. However, if you spend most of your time driving on mud, there’s a better option: the MX8 Bigfoot. This vehicle is built specifically for mud bogging, offering maximum power and maximum traction on wet ground.
Tires Built for Mud
The key feature of the Bigfoot is its XT119 tires. These tires have a tread pattern designed specifically for mud traction. They’re mounted on Airlock aluminum rims that let you run lower tire pressures, improving grip and ride quality. With 8 tires supporting the vehicle, ground pressure is so low that this XTV floats on soft surfaces instead of digging into them. This makes the MX8 the ultimate mud bogging vehicle. The only downside is water performance. The tread pattern is less efficient at paddling than standard Argo tires. This limits the Bigfoot’s amphibious top speed to 1.5 MPH, which is half that of other Argos.
Power
The MX8 comes with a Vanguard EFI Big Block engine that makes 40 HP. This is paired with an updated Admiral transmission that has the new Instant Torque Clutch and Instant Torque Drive System. This update helps the transmission deliver the low end torque of the old HT gear set, the top speed of the ST gear set, and better acceleration than either gear set. In other words, this is the fastest Argo ever built. The Bigfoot also comes with APS steering, which uses brakes to skid steer like other Argo models for a tight turning circle. However, thanks to a spring return and wider turning range, it’s more precise and feels more like using a steering rack. New users will find it easier to learn, while experienced Argo drivers will appreciate the increased control.
Towing, Payload and Accessories
This amphibious ATV can carry up to 1,060 lbs. on land and 860 lbs. on water. It has seating for up to four people. The MX8 can tow up to 1,800 lbs. A winch rated to pull 3,500 lbs. and a front brushguard come standard.
Colors
All 950 Bigfoot MX8’s come in black with orange and white graphics.
